This past Sunday I attended The Makeup Show NYC 2012 and was completely blown away. This place was paradise for beauty enthusiasts and makeup professionals. I arrived at the makeup exhibit pretty early expecting the crowds to be at a minimum, but was wrong. There was an explosion of people, but luckily we were all in great moods and happy to be in a sea of colors, lashes and other products.

As expected, MAC Cosmetics, NARS and Makeup Forever had the most outrageous lines had ever seen. I couldn’t even get close to them. I did however leave the exhibit with the two products I was dying to try and just never got the chance to purchase — the Beauty Blender and Model In A Bottle. (Reviews on the two will be up shortly!)

As hectic as that building was that day, it was equally amazing. You couldn’t turn a corner without seeing beautifully arranged products, demonstrations and makeup galore. I already can’t wait to see what next year’s exhibit will bring.

Have you ever been embarrassed about sweating a little under your arms? That has to be one of the most annoying things to deal with. Under arm sweating can sometimes be a little difficult to avoid. It might be the weather affecting it or certain situations. Either way it’s something no one wants to deal with.

I found a product that has been working so great for me and keeping my underarms DRY! By incorporating a new antiperspirant called CERTAIN DRI, I noticed a big difference instantly. This is something I suggest for those of you with excessive perspiration or with Hyperhidrosis. I’m using the roll-on one, but a solid version is available as well.

I apply it about every 2 days after my shower at night and in the morning use my regular deodorant. CERTAIN DRI has no scent, doesn’t burn or feel uncomfortable and dries instantly. You can find this at your local drugstore, so no more worrying about wearing your favorite bright colors and tops.

Airbrush makeup has been around for a while now, but not since recently did I actually try it. Using the absolute cutest airbrush machine, in pink, by Luminess Air is any girly girl’s dream.

My Luminess kit came complete with the pink airbrush machine, primer, foundation, blush and bronzer. A DVD also accompanies the kit with easy to follow directions. After watching the video I felt more than comfortable to get started and I did. The first spray feels a little weird, but you quickly get used to it.

It feels a little unnatural to go in small strokes to apply an airy makeup. At first I thought there wouldn’t be enough coverage, but you get the advantage of layering as much or as little as you’d like.

I have to say your skin looks flawless in photos and I can only imagine on TV as well. I was impressed with Luminess airbrush makeup, but I do enjoy applying my makeup the old-fashioned way. Mostly because there are so many more products to choose from. Check out Luminess Air for yourself, there are several kits to choose from.

Who’s ever said that drugstore foundations don’t offer great coverage? I once did, but I take it all back! I’m the kind of girl who loves full coverage from my foundation. I don’t necessarily need it, but what’s the point of putting on makeup if you want to look super natural?

Lately my go-to foundation has been CoverGirl & Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 Foundation in Golden Tan. I am absolutely in love with the coverage I get from this foundation. The foundation is a creamy consistency that blends into your skin naturally. My makeup stays put all day which is important to me and anyone else who is busy, busy, busy.

The one con: I have oily skin and this foundation leaves me a little shiny. In the Summer especially I don’t like this, but I apply a little bit pressed powder and the shine is gone. If this foundation came is a matte finish I would stock up on it instantly.

Something else that’s caught me off-guard from this foundation is the scent. It smells so good that I actually look forward to applying my foundation. CoverGirl shows us that great looking makeup doesn’t have to cost us too much.

The Makeup Show is just a week away in New York and I could not be more excited. It’s going to be my first year attending and I know I will be going crazy. My favorite brands like Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Nars and Makeup Forever will be there as well as top Makeup Artists and over 60 other top brands. The two-day exhibit consists of classes, seminars and shopping for makeup everywhere you turn. Basically it’s like a candy store for the beauty obsessed.

Summer is almost here which means shorts, sundresses, and sleeveless tops. It also means you can no longer hide your dry skin under big sweaters and long pants.

Exfoliating is a fabulous and easy solution for getting your skin summer ready. But instead of spending money on expensive exfoliating treatments, you can make your own all-natural exfoliators by using ingredients you already have lying around the house or don’t cost that much to buy.

So before you book yourself an appointment at your favourite spa, try making your own exfoliating treatments that’s not only simple but oh-so-sweet.

Hey Sugar

Exfoliating treatments are handy when getting your skin in shape for summer as it helps to shed layers of dead, scaly skin off your body, leaving you with a healthy glow and touchable soft skin.

All you need in sugar, coconut oil (or olive oil if you don’t like coconut oil), a few mason jars with secure lids, and a few of your favourite essential oils.

Once you have all your ingredients, combine your coconut oil (or olive oil) with enough sugar that you create a paste. Stir it until it is well combined and add in a few drops of your chosen essential oil. Mix that thoroughly so that all the ingredients are properly combined and scoop your mixture into your jars. Remember to make sure your jars have secure lids or you won’t just have an exfoliating treatment, you will also have a big mess to clean up.

If you want to have different scents, simply make a few batches of the mixture, just make them smaller so you can add different oils to each batch.

Another bonus of these easy DIY exfoliants is that they keep beautifully for months at a time.

Once you have all your jars divided into their different scents, label each jar so you know which treatment you are using and then just simply scoop out a bit of your paste each time you are in the shower.

To maximize your sugar exfoliant, you don’t need to use it all over your body each time you shower, just use it on the areas of your body that are the driest such as your legs, knees, feet, elbows, hands, or arms.

Finally, not only does this DIY treatment make for a luxurious scrub but it can also make for a beautiful gift for any of your girlfriends. Just be sure to decorate your mason jar with ribbon, twine, or even use chalkboard paint to create a chalkboard label on the front of the jar and then write a little message.
